RYOMA SAKAMOTO(1836-1867)
I guess only a few people know this name in US. Currently, TV drama is broadcasted on TV. He played a very important role as a revolutionary at the end of Edo period in Japan. When administration changed from Edo administration to current government, he set up the procedure in order to avoid civil war. In addition to political schievement, he also made a pioneering organization of "company" in Japan. His company was changed into Mitsubishi by Yataro Iwasaki after he died. He also did a first honey moon.
He was born in small prefecture in Shikoku Island. He was originally a sissy, but we grown up strong after he begun kendo, Japanese fensing. As he was a good at kendo, he was approved to go to Edo, name of Tokyo at the time. He become a chief of a famous kendo GYM.
In his days, Japan was about to open to the world though Japan was national isolation like North Korea. A lot of people hate people from other county and Ryoma also disagree to the opening of Japan. However, he changed his opinion after he met a scholar who know well about oversea. He decided to work for open Japan and save Japan from imperialism of Europa.
After he changed his mind, he decided to leave his prefecture and went to Edo by himself. Leaving their prefecture was banned at the time. After he arrived at Edo, a minister of Edo administration hired him.
He became independent from Katsu and established a company which was called "Kameyama shatsu". The company,which was changed "Kaien tai", imported weapons from Europa. When he was the president of the company, he succeed to form an alliance of two strong prefectures, which became a base of new administration.

His final and important role was when the old government decided to change administration by themselves. He made brief philosophy of new government when he go to Kyoto before the administration changed. He hoped to see new Japan. However, he was assassinated with his colleagues in Kyoto.

His story was famous these days. However, his name was completely forgotten by people for a long time. His achievements were "re-discovered" by a famous writer, Ryotaro Shiba.
In your history, a lot of people contribute a lot for the history of their countries. Some people are,however ,forgotten after their lives. True honer of people's lives never fade without applause for victory, without praise for endeavorer.
