Since Kobe earthquake and Sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway, the relationship between "system" and "individuals" are very important topic for him. After living all over the world, he finally decided to stay in Japan for the rest of his life because he thought he should think this big theme. From my point of view, his thoughts on the theme consists the most important part of 1Q84. In the novel, similar religious group take an important role for the story.

Characteristics of his writing is simple but meaningful expressions and metaphors. His metaphors are so unique that no one can expect it though every body feel they suits situations. It is said that his stype come from novelists in USA. He often use musics in his novels. I often try them.

1Q84 has been already released in a few countries. In Taiwan, as usual for his books, it become a best seller and even stores for selling just 1Q84 appeared. It may be worthy of thinking why his novel is accepted so far beyond borders.

I think so far that what he is writing in his novel come from Japanese culture while it is common human beings. In addition, a person told me that his novel is a kind of "entrance" to modern Japan.

One thing you should know about Haruki's novers is that his books develop a new category of novels. When you read his books in Japanese, they are like books translated. Some people even reject it with saying that his books are not novel. Remember, "reject" it. I still not see this reason. However, this must actually show an aspect of his books.
